Back At The Mecca Like He Belongs - Patrick Ewing Has Been Hired By The Knicks, Continue To Have The Best Offseason This Franchise Has Seen In Decades

I'd make an argument that Patrick Ewing has turned into one of the most underrated great players in the NBA. People love to talk about how he didn't win a ring and forget who he was as a player. It happened with Barkley too, but also because Chuck became the funniest dude on TV. Basically since we've gotten away from their era and into this you need a ring to be in conversations of being great, you forget how good dudes really were. For any of us fellow olds we remember Patrick Ewing being a great. 

I know he sucked at Georgetown, but guess what? He's not the head coach. We have Thibs. He's there to provide support or do whatever the hell he wants. Get him working with Karl-Anthony Towns on defense only right now. That's gotta be step 1 while Mitchell Robinson is hurt. Get him front row of seats with John Starks, remind us of the mid-90s when we made an NBA Finals. I know, I know, I vividly remember what happened at the end of Game 6 and Game 7 in 1994. But guess what? We haven't seen shit as a franchise, we're back to being a damn good team and that's something every Knicks fan can celebrate. 

You know what? We need Pat back and need him to start using frozen envelopes again. One of the greatest conspiracy theories in sports is how the Knicks won the lottery for Ewing. If that's what it takes, it completes the greatest offseason this franchise has had in my lifetime. Avoiding guys like Jerome James, Eddy Curry, Andrea Barganani, drafting Frederic fucking Weis. Nope. It's a new era and Pat is back at the Mecca.
